We are thrilled to announce that Italian cinematographer Simone D’Arcangelo will be among the featured guests at the upcoming TDC25 CineCampus, where he will lead a special session on shooting on film, taking inspiration from his latest feature Testa o Croce?, shot entirely on 35mm Kodak film and selected in competition at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival – Un Certain Regard.
A rising talent in the world of Italian and international cinematography, D’Arcangelo is known for his poetic approach to image-making and his commitment to the physicality of film. A graduate of the Accademia dell’Immagine in L’Aquila, he began his career under the mentorship of three-time Academy Award-winner Vittorio Storaro, working alongside him on multiple international projects.

After a long and formative experience as a Digital Imaging Technician, which included collaborations with numerous high-profile DPs, Simone transitioned to cinematography, building a reputation through music videos, documentaries, and art films. His breakout came with Il Solengo (2015), which earned him the prestigious Gianni Di Venanzo Award for Best Cinematography.
Over the past decade, he has continued to build an impressive body of work, including Re Granchio (Directors’ Fortnight, Cannes 2021), Los Colonos (Un Certain Regard 2023, FIPRESCI Prize), and Il Vangelo secondo Maria by Paolo Zucca. Most recently, he has collaborated with Luca Guadagnino on Queer and an upcoming documentary on Bernardo Bertolucci, while also expanding into fashion campaigns for brands such as GUCCI, MISSONI, and ROGER VIVIER.
We are very excited to offer TDC25 Participants a rare opportunity to learn directly from one of the most original and upcoming voices of contemporary European cinematography.
