During the 2025 edition of Terre di Cinema – CineCampus in Siracusa, cinematographer Vincenzo Condorelli AIC led a live lighting masterclass as part of The Light Show, presented in collaboration with Nanlux and Nanlite.
The session focused on exploring the expressive potential of modern LED systems when used in motion picture film production. Two lighting setups were demonstrated: a Night Interior, illuminated with compact Nanlite Pavotubes and Pavoslim fixtures, and a Day Interior, lit with the powerful Nanlux Evoke 2400 and Evoke 5000B units.
Both sets were shot on Kodak Vision3 7219 (500T), rated at 320 ASA, showcasing how high-quality LED lighting can achieve remarkable exposure latitude and color rendering on film without the need for high ISO settings. The results underline the strength and versatility of Nanlux and Nanlite technology — from the subtle tonal control of the smaller fixtures to the intense, cinematic output of the larger units — confirming that LED lighting can harmoniously integrate with photochemical cinematography.
This demonstration also reaffirmed Terre di Cinema’s commitment to fostering dialogue between traditional film practices and new imaging technologies, providing young filmmakers and cinematographers with the opportunity to experiment hands-on with professional tools in a pedagogical yet creative environment.
