Daniele Nannuzzi nasce il 27 Giugno 1949 a Roma.

Figlio del direttore della fotografia Armando Nannuzzi, comincia la sua
carriera come assistente del padre nel film Incompreso (1966), regia
di Luigi Comencini.
Negli anni seguenti è operatore alla macchina per i direttori della
fotografia Giuseppe Rotunno, Pasqualino De Santis, Ennio Guarnieri,
Franco di Giacomo, David Watkin e Alex Thompson. Nel 1976, con il
regista Franco Zeffirelli, Nannuzzi firma la regia e la fotografia della
seconda unità dello sceneggiato tv Gesù di Nazareth (1977) e nel 1981
quella dei due film Opera, vincitori di due Emmy Award: Cavalleria
Rusticana (1982) e Pagliacci (1982). La collaborazione con Zeffirelli
continua nel 1988 con Il giovane Toscanini (1988) e Omaggio a Roma
(2009), l’ultimo film del regista fiorentino.
Nel 1987, Nannuzzi gira La morte avrà i suoi occhi (1987), diretto
da Arthur Allan Seidelman, e Sing Sing chiama Wall Strett (1987),
di Robert Boris. Il 1988 è l’anno della collaborazione con Alejandro
Jodorowsky su Santa Sangre (1988) cui seguono A Season of Giants
(1991) regia di Jerry London, Cattiva (1991) di Carlo Lizzani e Missus
(1994), di Alberto Negrin.
Tra il 1995 e il 1996, insieme al regista Vincenzo Labella, realizza i
documentari The Rosary: A Garland of Prayer (1995) e The wonders
of Vatican Library (2004). Fino ai primi anni del 2000, collabora con
altri registi italiani, come Luciano Manuzzi, Enrico Oldoini e Tinto
Brass.
Nel 2002, firma la fotografia di El Alamein (2002), diretto dal regista
Enzo Monteleone, che vale a Nannuzzi un David di Donatello, un
Golden Globe e una nomination ai Nastri d’Argento del 2003 per la
miglior fotografia.
Nel 2004, lavora ad Empire (2004), serie TV prodotta da Touchstone e
Disney con i registi Kim Manners, John Gray e Greg Yaitanes.
Ritornato a lavorare Enzo Monteleone su Il tunnel della libertà (2004),
la serie TV Il Capo dei Capi (2007) e Due partite (2009), film che ottiene
2 nomination ai David di Donatello e 4 nomination ai Nastri d’Argento.
Dal 2011 al 2012, a San Pietroburgo, con il coreografo russo Boris
Eifman cura regia e fotografia dei balletti Anna Karenina, Onegin e
Rodin.
Nel 2014, realizza Manhattan Undying (2014), regia di Babak Payami,
e L’enfant du Sahara (2014), di Laurent Merlin.
Dal 2012 Daniele Nannuzzi è Presidente di AIC – Associazione Italiana
degli Autori della Fotografia Cinematografica.

Daniele Nannuzzi was born on 27th June 1949 in Rome, Italy.
Son of cinematographer Armando Nannuzzi, he enters the industry as
his assistant on Misunderstood (1966), directed by Luigi Comencini.
In the following years he is the camera operator of prominent
cinematographers such as Giuseppe Rotunno, Pasqualino De
Santis, Ennio Guarnieri, Franco di Giacomo, David Watkin and Alex
Thompson. In 1976, he joins Franco Zeffirelli, as 2° unit director
and cinematographer of the tv miniseries Jesus of Nazareth (1977),
followed by two Opera films, Cavalleria Rusticana (1982) and
Pagliacci (1982), winners of the Emmy Awards. He works again
with Zeffirelli on the set of Young Toscanini (1988) and eventually
on Omaggio a Roma (2009), the last film directed by the Florentine
maestro.
In 1987, Nannuzzi shoots The Caller (1987), directed by Arthur Allan
Seidelman, and Buy&Cell (1987), by Robert Boris. In 1988 he is
the cinematographer of Alejandro Jodorowsky on Santa Sangre,
followed by A Season of Giants (1991), directed by Jerry London,
Cattiva (1991) by Carlo Lizzani, and Missus (1994) by Alberto Negrin.
Between 1995 and 1996 he works on the documentaries The
Rosary: A Garland of Prayer (1995) and The wonders of Vatican
Library (2004), directed by Vincenzo Labella, followed by various
collbarations with directors Luciano Manuzzi, Enrico Oldoini and
Tinto Brass.
In 2002, he is the cinematographer of El Alamein, directed by Enzo
Monteleone, for which Nannuzzi wins the Best Cinematography
Awards at the David di Donatello and the Italian Golden Globe
and a nomination at the Nastri d’Argento (Silver Ribbons) Award
in 2003.
In 2004, he works on Empire (2004), a saga about Ancient Rome
produced by Touchstone and Disney, and directed by Kim Manners,
John Gray and Greg Yaitanes.
He returns on set with Enzo Monteleone on Il tunnel della libertà
(2004), the tv series Il Capo dei Capi (2007) and Due partite (2009),
that got two nominees at the David di Donatello and four at the
Nastri d’Argento.
From 2011 to 2012, in San Petersburg, together with Russian
choreographer Boris Eifman Nannuzzi is the director and
cinematographer on the film versions of the ballets Anna Karenina,
Onegin and Rodin.
In 2014, he works on Manhattan Undying (2014), directed by Babak
Payami, and on L’enfant du Sahara (2014), by Laurent Merlin.
Since 2012 Daniele Nannuzzi is the President of AIC – the Italian
association of cinematographers.
