Award-winning cinematographer Matyas Erdely, HSC at TDC16 /// Il pluripremiato direttore della fotografia Matyas Erdely, HSC a TDC16

We’re proud to announce that the TDC16 CineCampus will be featuring award-winning cinematographer Matyas Erdely, HSC.  Born in 1976 in Budapest, Hungary, before entering the industry Matyas Erdely completed both the Hungarian University of Drama and Film in Budapest and the Master Program at the American Film Institute Conservatory in Los Angeles, California.

After graduating, Erdely debuted as a cinematographers on a number of short films, among which The Gentleman Takes his Leave (2010), directed by Lazlo Nemes and Timea Varkonyi, that won the Best Cinematographer Award at the Hungarian Film Week.  The same year, his first feature film, Tender Son: The Frankenstein Project, directed by Kornél Mundruczo, achieved the Best Cinematographer Award at the Seville European Film Festival.

Since then his feature works have been screened at festivals around the world with four films featuring in Cannes in the last couple of years: Tender Son (Main Competition), Delta,  (Main Competition), Miss Bala (Un Certain Regard) and Son of Saul, directed by Laszlo Nemes (Grand Prize of the Jury in 2015), also a winner of the 2016 Academy Award for Best Foreign Film, 2015 Independent Spirit Award and the 2016 Golden Globe, among many others.

His cinematography in Son of Saul was awarded with the Golden Camera 300 at the 2015 Manaki Brothers International Film Festival, the 2016 Spotlight Award of the American Society of Cinematographers and the Bronze Frog at the 2015 Camerimage International Film Festival.

Matyas Erdely is a member of the Hungarian Society of Cinematographers.

Siamo orgogliosi di annunciare la partecipazione a TDC16 del pluripremiato direttore della fotografia Matyas Erdely, HSC.  Nato a Budapest, Ungheria, nel 1976, il curriculum accademico di Matyas Erdely include un diploma alla Hungarian University of Drama and Film di Budapest ed il Master dell’American Film Institute Conservatory a Los Angeles, California.

Il debutto di Erdely come direttore della fotografia avviene in una serie di cortometraggi, tra cui The Gentleman Takes his Leave (2010) – regia di Lazlo Nemes e Timea Varkonyi – che gli è valso il premio per la miglior fotografia all’Hungarian Film Week.  Nello stesso anno, il suo primo lungometraggio, Tender Son: The Frankenstein Project, diretto da Kornél Mundruczo, si è aggiudicatoil premio per la miglior fotografia al Seville European Film Festival.

Da quel momento in poi, i suoi lavori hanno partecipato ai più prestigiosi festival di tutto il mondo, e quattro di essi sono stati selezionati a Cannes negli ultimi anni: Tender Son (Competizione Ufficiale), Delta,  (Competizione Ufficiale), Miss Bala (Un Certain Regard)  Son of Saul (Il Figlio di Saul), diretto da Laszlo Nemes, premiato con il Gran Premio della Giuria nel 2015, e vincitore, tra gli altri,  dell’Oscar 2016 per Miglior Fim Straniero, dell’Independent Spirit Award (2015) e del Golden Globe (2016).

La fotografia di Son of Saul è stata premiata con il Golden Camera 300 al  2015 Manaki Brothers International Film Festival, lo Spotlight Award of the American Society of Cinematographers (2016) ed il Bronze Frog al Camerimage International Film Festival (2015).
