NANGA PARBAT – LA MONTAGNA INCANTATA
by RENATO CHIOCCA
screening 6th of september
Synopsis
In the tragic summer of 2008, the mountaineer Daniele Nardi guided an expedition in the Himalayas to conquer the ninth highest mountain on Earth, Nanga Parbat.
An anthropological journey to the most remote regions of Pakistan, an exceptional challenge to find oneself through grandiose and ruthless natural environments, rising above the clouds on the summit of the mountain that has marked the history of mountaineering more than any other. Thanks to meeting with local populations, Riccardo Giagni’s unique music (My Mother’s Smile, La fabbrica dei tedeschi, Draquila) and an elaborate interlocking structure, the film is not a simple report on the expedition but a total lunge, an experience between action and contemplation through the glorious natural setting of one of the highest mountains on Earth.
