A graduate from the New York University Tisch School of Arts, Austrian cinematographer Petra Korner completed her studies with a MFA in Cinematography from the prestigious American Film Institute in Los Angeles.

Petra’s commercial and narrative work has earned her multiple “Best Cinematography” awards. Four of her feature films have been in competition at the Sundance Film Festival, two of which took home the Dramatic Audience Award.

For her achievement in cinematography, Petra was also awarded with the Kodak Vision Award at the 2009 Women in Films Awards in Hollywood, next to fellow honorees Elisabeth Banks, Holly Hunter, Jennifer Aniston and director Catherine Hardwicke, and Petra’s name was first up on Variety’s Ten Cinematographers to Watch list that year.

At Terre di Cinema 2015 Petra will present her last feature Umrika (2015), shot on locations in India and directed by Prashant Nair.  Read her interview about this shoot by Kodak In Camera, published on the April 2015 issue of  the American Cinematographer Magazine:

Petra Korner is a member of the International Cinematographers Guild.

The 2015 New Cinematographers Award will be assigned by the International Jury of Terre di Cinema 2015.          Top French brand from the industry  K5600 Lighting will award the winner with a technical prize.

Dopo essersi diplomata alla Tisch School of Arts della New York University, Petra Korner, autrice della fotografia cinematografica austriaca, consegue il suo Master of Arts in Cinematography al prestigioso American Film Institute di Los Angeles.

Il suo lavoro, tanto nel cinema quanto nella pubblicità, le è valso diversi premi come “Miglior Fotografia” e quattro suoi film sono stati selezionati al Sundance Film Festival  – e due di essi sono stati premiati con il Dramatic Audience Award.

Altro prestigioso riconoscimento al suo lavoro, nel 2009, con il Kodak Vision Award conseguito ai Women In Films Awards.  Tra le premiate di quella edizione: Elisabeth Banks, Holly Hunter, Jennifer Aniston e la regista Catherine Hardwicke.  Nello stesso anno il nome di Petra Korner viene inserito nella Ten Cinematographers to Watch List della rivista Variety.
