Nikos Andritsakis studied social sciences and still photography in Athens before moving to London to take the MA course in filmmaking at the London Film School. During this time he directed numerous short films and photographed others several of which were showcased in various international film festivals around the world. He was nominated for a Golden Tadpole at Camerimage for his work on A Love Model(2005).

He has shot fiction, commercials and music videos in many countries in Europe and has worked extensively in India where he has collaborated with acclaimed directors of the Indian independent film scene. His work on LSD: Love, Sex Aur Dhokha (2010), directed by Dibakar Banerjee, earned him a nomination for Best Cinematography at the India Screen Awards – the film also got the Best Film and Best Director Awards at India’s Stardust Awards – leading to further collaboration on commercials and feature films with Indian productions many of which showcased in festivals like Toronto, Cannes, Berlin and others around the world.   In 2013 he received another nomination for Best Cinematography for the political thriller Shanghai (2012), directed again by Dibakar Banerjee – at the Filmfare Awards and shot Anurag Kashyap’s Ugly (2013) which premiered in Director’s fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival.

In the summer of 2013 and 2014 he revisited the short film format and photographed two fiction films in the UK,  Mike (2014) and A Confession (2015), directed by fellow London Film School graduate Petros Silvestros – which both won the Chrystal Bear Award for Best Short Film in two consecutive years at the Berlin International Film Festival.

His latest collaboration with director Dibakar Banerjee is on the set of Detective Byomkhesh Bakshy (2015), European premiere at TDC15.

Nikos Andritsakis studia Scienze Sociali e Fotografia di posa ad Atene prima di trasferirsi a Londra dove si diploma con MA in Filmmaking alla London Film School.  In questi anni è impegnato in diversi cortometraggi, come regista o come direttore della fotografia, che partecipano a numerosi festival in tutto il mondo.  Nel 2005 riceve una nomination per il Golden Tadpole a Camerimage per la fotografia di A Love Model.

Oltre ad essere impegnato come autore della fotografia di lavori di finzione, pubblicità e videoclip musicali in giro per l’Europa, Andritsakis collabora stabilmente con alcuni tra i più acclamati registi della scena indipendente in India.  Nel 2011  ottiene una nomination per la Miglior Fotografia all’Indian Screen Awards con LSD: Love, Sex Aur Dhoka” (2010) diretto da Dibakar Banerjee – vincitore anche di due Stardust Awards in India: Miglior Film e Miglior Regista – a cui seguono altre produzioni indiane presentate in festival come Toronto, Cannes e Berlino.  Nel 2013 riceve una nuova nomination per la Miglior Fotografia al Filmfare Awards con il thriller politico Shangai (2012), nuovamente a fianco del regista Dibakar Banerjee – seguito da Ugly, regia di Anurag Kashyap, che viene presentato in anteprima al Festival di Cannes 2013 (Director’s Fortnight).

Nell’estate 2013 e 2014 ritorna al formato del cortometraggio, girando con il regista greco Petros Silvestros – anche lui diplomato alla London Film School – du produzioni britanniche: Mike e A Confession, che vengono premiati con l’Orso di Cristallo per il miglior cortometraggio in due edizioni consecutive del Festival di Berlino (2014 e 2015).

Nel 2014 Andritsakis torna a collaborare con Dibakar Banerjee sul set di Detective Byomkhesh Bakshy (20015), che verrà presentato in anteprima europea a TDC15.
