Screen Daily’s Arab Star of Tomorrow director Alaa Eddine Aljem to lecture the students of the 2017 CineCampus /// il regista Alaa Eddine Aljem, Arab Star of Tomorrow per la rivista Screen Daily, guidera’ i registi del CineCampus 2017

We are extremely happy to welcome Moroccan director Alaa Eddine ljem within the pool of talents who will lecture and supervise the activities of the  2017 CineCampus at Terre di Cinema.  Alaa will mentor the directing department of the CineCampus, leading the 8 selected directors to the shooting of their short films next may in Sicily.

Alaa was born in Rabat, Morocco in 1988.  He studied film at the ESAV Marrakech and INSAS in Brussels.  Since graduating, he has been working for both cinema and television as a screenwriter, an assistant director and a line producer.   His most recent short subject The Desert Fish, took the critics, screen-writing and grand prizes at the Moroccan National Film Festival and has been invited to Cannes, among several other international film festivals.

His first feature film script The Unknown Saint was awarded at Locarno International Film and selected by La Fabrique des Cinemas du Monde in Cannes and by the Sundance Screenwriters Lab.

Most recently, in december 2016, Alaa has been recognised by Screen international and the Dubai International Film Festival as one of the five Arab Stars of Tomorrow.

Siamo estremamente lieti di dare il benvenuto al regista marocchino Alaa Eddine Aljem all’interno della squadra di talenti che condurranno le attività del CineCampus di Terre di Cinema 2017.  Alaa sara’ il mentore del reparto regia del CineCampus 2017 e condurra’ gli 8 registi selezionati alla realizzazione delle riprese dei loro cortometraggi durante le giornate del CineCampus il prossimo maggio in Sicilia.

Alaa e’ nato a Rabat, Marocco, nel 1988.  Dopo aver studiato film all’ESAV di Marrakech ed all’INSAS di Brussels, Alaa ha iniziato a lavorare per il cinema e la televisione come sceneggiatore, aiuto regista ed in produzione.  Il suo più recente soggetto cortometraggio Il Pesce del Deserto ha raccolto i premi principali del Festival del cinema nazionale marocchino, tra cui il premio della critica e quello per la miglior sceneggiatura, ed e’ stato invitato a Cannes ed altri importanti festival internazionali.

La sua prima sceneggiatura per un lungometraggio, dal titolo Il Santo Sconosciuto, e’ stata premiata al Festival internazionale di Locarno e selezionata a Cannes per la Fabrique des Cinemas du Monde e dal Sundance Screenwriters Lab.

Piu’ recentemente, nel dicembre 2016, Alaa e’ stato nominato da Screen International e dal Festival internazionale di Dubai come uno delle cinque Arab Stars of Tomorrow.
